3. Offer analysis and quotes to support the analysis

PARAGRAPHS 2 & 3: LITERARY DEVICES & THEME 

 

Explain how the author conveyed the THEME of the text by analyzing the author’s use of 2 Literary Devices in 2 separate paragraphs.

Here you must:

​

1. Identify the literary device you will analyze

2. Clearly explain how the author used that device to convey your selected theme

3. Offer analysis and quotes to support the analysis

Judgment

 

There is no longer a judgment paragraph. You are therefore expected to sprinkle judgments throughout your 3 paragraphs. For example, when discussing a literary device, you might write, ‘The author effectively used conflict to convey the theme of the story when…’

 

Audience

 

There is no longer an audience paragraph. However, you should briefly touch upon audience at the end of your first paragraph. For example, you might conclude paragraph one by writing, ‘This story, due to its theme, clearly seems to be targeting people of [blank age group] because…’
